    • Pühtitsa Assumption Monastery - Orthodox convent of the Estonian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate. Located in the village of Kuremäe, Illuka parish, a few kilometers from Tallinn.

      The history of the monastery is associated with the image of the Dormition of the Mother of God: according to legend, in the area where now stands the monastery, the locals was the Mother of God, and in the place of its occurrence was found Assumption icon of the Mother of God. In the XVI century, the locals near with oak, where the icon was found, built a chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows. Later on this place was built a number of buildings, the church formed a monastery.

      Not far from the monastery there are graves in which, according to legend, buried Russian soldiers times of St. Alexander Nevsky and Ivan the Terrible.
